Test with the real product and every accessory
Place the production-intended item, cables, chargers, batteries, manuals and accessories into the sample. Check that each part has a clear position and can be removed easily. If the case is for a fragile or high-value product, repeat the test after normal carrying and transport handling.
Check shell shape, dimensions and closure
Measure the external case size and compare it with the approved drawing or brief. Inspect the EVA shell for even forming, clean edge binding and consistent lid alignment. Open and close the zipper repeatedly; it should run smoothly without catching the lining or creating excessive tension around corners.
Inspect foam fit and internal protection
The insert should support the product at the correct points without leaving large gaps. Look for clean cuts, secure lamination, correct finger notches and no exposed glue. Close the case and make sure the lid does not press on sensitive controls, screens or accessories.
Confirm logo, colour and trim against approved references
Compare the shell fabric, lining, zipper, puller, binding and logo to the signed-off colour and artwork references. Check logo location, size, orientation and finish from a normal viewing distance. Small sample differences should be written down now, before bulk materials are ordered.
Check handles, straps and functional details
For a carrying case, test handle comfort, stitching reinforcement, D-rings, shoulder straps, mesh pockets, elastic bands and any trolley or wheel components. Pull and lift the case with a realistic load. A detail that feels minor on a sample can become a recurring customer complaint in bulk production.
Review packing as part of the sample approval
Confirm individual protection, hangtags, instruction cards, barcodes, master-carton quantity and carton marks. Packing affects shipping cost and arrival condition, so it should be agreed before production. For retail programmes, check that the product presentation remains clean after packing and unpacking.
Create a written approval record
Keep photos, measurements, material swatches, logo artwork and any agreed deviations with the approved sample. The factory should use this record as the bulk production standard. If you request changes, approve the revised sample or a clear pre-production confirmation before mass production begins.
