QUICK ANSWER
Select the lining around the products carried, likely spills and intended cleaning method. A wipe-clean surface does not make the assembled pouch leakproof: seams, needle holes, zipper openings and binding also need review on the completed sample.
Start with the contents and a realistic cleaning brief
List the bottles, tubes, brushes and cartons the bag will carry, including their dimensions and whether they are packed individually. Explain whether the bag is a retail accessory, a gift-with-purchase pouch or reusable travel packaging. A dry brush pouch has different interior requirements from a kit carrying liquid skincare.
Define what the user should be able to clean: occasional cosmetic marks, a damp exterior or an accidental spill. Ask the supplier to propose an interior for that use, rather than requesting a generic waterproof lining. Do not assume a pouch replaces a bottle cap, seal or separate protective packing.
Separate surface performance from whole-bag performance
Use precise terms in the brief. Wipe-clean describes how a specified surface can be cleaned under agreed conditions. Water resistance concerns exposure under defined conditions. Leak containment concerns the assembled bag and its openings. None of these claims should be inferred solely from a fabric name.
A coated lining may resist liquid across its surface while liquid can still pass through stitching, binding or the zipper area. Ask which claim applies to the material and which has been checked on the finished sample. Any claim intended for retail packaging should have supporting evidence appropriate to the intended market and use.
Choose the interior with the exterior and construction
For a soft textile pouch, review lining thickness, feel, colour and how it sits against the exterior. A lining that catches in the zipper or bunches around a corner can reduce usable space. For a clear pouch, decide whether visibility is part of the design before adding an opaque interior.
Compare the clear PVC cosmetic bag and waffle cosmetic pouch as different starting constructions, not as proof of identical cleaning performance. Specify the actual lining or film reference, backing, finish and colour approved during development.
Review seams, binding and the opening together
Ask for interior photographs showing the base corners, side seams, zipper ends and any pocket attachment points. Confirm whether raw edges are enclosed, bound or otherwise finished, and whether internal seams interfere with bottles or cartons. Inspect the completed sample inside and outside.
Keep the inspection tied to the use case. If spill containment is essential, ask the supplier to review an appropriate construction and agree a finished-product test before ordering. A conventional sewn pouch with a standard zipper should not automatically be described as leakproof.
Agree a cleaning check before approving the sample
Use the proposed care method on a representative sample or agreed test piece. Record the substance used, contact time, cleaning product or cloth, number of repetitions and acceptance criteria. These are project-specific conditions to agree with the supplier, not universal performance claims.
After the agreed check, inspect staining, colour transfer, surface change, odour, lining distortion and zipper operation. Check that exterior branding and trim are compatible with the intended care instructions too. Request material compatibility advice before using detergents, solvents or disinfectants; do not infer suitability for medical or hygiene applications.
Record the sample approval in a short specification
Include the exterior reference; lining or film reference; finished dimensions and agreed tolerance; seam and edge finish; zipper and puller; logo position; care instructions; and packing. State the exact cleaning or water-resistance claim being approved, together with the evidence or test conditions.
Use our cosmetic bag sample checklist for the wider approval process and the cosmetic bag material guide for exterior selection. Retain an approved sample and record changes before bulk production so later orders have a clear reference.
What to send for a useful quotation
Send the closest style from our custom cosmetic bag collection, approximate dimensions, contents list, quantity per design and colour, logo artwork, target market and required arrival date. Add a plain-language cleaning brief, such as occasional marks removed with a damp cloth, and identify any claim that must be verified.
Request a quotation with your lining and construction requirements. Confirm material availability, sampling scope, performance checks and packing in the quotation before committing to a bulk specification.
