CUSTOM BAG BUYER GUIDE

How to Choose Materials for Custom Cosmetic Bags

Compare PU leather, cotton, canvas, terry, velvet, neoprene, silicone, PVC, TPU and rPET for a custom cosmetic bag programme.

Begin with the way the bag will be used

A retail makeup pouch, travel organiser, beauty gift and professional vanity case need different levels of structure, cleaning performance and protection. Define the contents, selling environment and expected price position before selecting a material.

Compare appearance with practical performance

PU leather creates a structured, wipe-clean appearance. Cotton and canvas provide a natural hand feel. Terry and velvet add a soft beauty-led finish, while neoprene and silicone suit flexible or water-resistant directions.

Use clear materials with purpose

PVC and TPU work well for transparent panels and travel pouches where visibility matters. Confirm thickness, flexibility, trim construction and any market-specific material requirements during sampling rather than choosing only from a photograph.

Review recycled-material documentation

For rPET or other recycled-content fabrics, tell the factory what documentation your programme requires. Colour, coating, lining and component choices should be reviewed together because the finished bag contains more than the outer fabric.

Approve the actual swatch and sample

Screen colour is not a reliable production reference. Approve the physical material, colour, lining, zipper and completed sample before bulk production, and keep the approved specification as the production standard.
