Choose material around the use case
A jewelry box for a travel retail programme, a premium gift set and an everyday organizer do not need the same construction. Start with the jewelry type, whether it will travel, the expected retail presentation, target quantity and budget. This makes the outer material, lining and closure decisions practical instead of decorative.
PU leather for branded travel and gift cases
PU leather gives a clean, brand-ready surface and can be specified in smooth, saffiano, crocodile or other texture references. It suits zip jewelry cases, lockable boxes and gift programmes because it is easy to wipe clean and supports colour, logo and stitching details. Ask to approve the exact PU swatch, grain, edge finish and colour reference before bulk material is ordered.
Velvet and suede-style linings for presentation
Velvet or suede-style lining helps jewelry look protected and considered when a customer opens the case. It is commonly used on ring rolls, removable trays, watch cushions, necklace panels and small compartments. Check the lining colour against the metal finish of the jewelry, make sure pile direction looks consistent, and confirm that the fabric does not shed onto delicate products.
EVA shells when protection matters
For watch organizers and protective travel cases, an EVA shell adds structure and impact resistance while remaining lighter than many rigid alternatives. It can be paired with fabric, PU or laminated surfaces and a custom foam or velvet insert. The sample should be tested with the real watch or jewelry set inside, including a shake and closing test to make sure the lid does not touch the contents.
Rigid board for retail packaging and gift boxes
Rigid board is a useful route for premium presentation boxes that are not intended for daily carrying. It can support wrapped paper, PU, fabric, foil artwork, magnetic closures and lift-out trays. Confirm board thickness, corner wrapping, lid alignment and shipping protection because a good-looking display box still needs to arrive clean at the retailer or end customer.
Closures and hardware are part of the material decision
Zippers, pullers, hinges, locks, magnets and metal logo plates affect both appearance and daily use. A travel case needs a zipper that runs smoothly around corners; a presentation box may need a magnet strength that feels refined without disturbing the insert. Specify finish, colour, logo method and opening test in the approved sample record.
Approve a complete material reference set
Do not approve only an overall photo. Keep the approved shell swatch, lining, thread, zipper or hardware finish, logo artwork and colour reference together with sample photos. This record gives the factory a clear bulk-production standard and makes any material change visible before it becomes a production issue.
What to include in a quotation request
For a useful quotation, share the intended jewelry type, outside dimensions, preferred outer material, lining, insert layout, logo method, estimated quantity, packing requirement and destination. A reference image is helpful, but a short written brief prevents assumptions about structure and finish.
