QUICK ANSWER
To customize an existing cosmetic bag, choose a reference product, confirm what it must hold, and separate the features you want to retain from the changes you need. Then agree on materials, branding, colour allocation and packaging before approving a physical sample.
Plan your production brief
This approach suits beauty brands and retailers that have a purchase plan but do not need an entirely new bag structure. An existing design provides a practical starting point for discussion. It does not automatically mean the product is in stock, that every colour is available, or that the original pattern can be used without adjustment.
Start with a design that already fits the job
Browse the custom cosmetic bag collection and select one or two designs based on their shape, access and intended contents. A useful reference is more than a bag with an attractive colour: its opening, depth and construction should make sense for your products.
For a skincare kit, check the tallest bottle and the widest jar. For a makeup set, consider brush length and the way palettes sit inside. If customers need to see the contents, transparency may matter more than an internal pocket.
Send the product link with a short explanation of why you selected it. This helps the supplier distinguish essential features from styling preferences.
Separate branding changes from construction changes
Adding a logo and changing the bag's proportions are different development tasks. Neither should be assumed to be a simple substitution until the material and construction have been reviewed.
| Requested change | Details to provide | What needs review |
|---|---|---|
| Add a brand logo | Vector artwork, width, placement and finish | Compatibility with the selected surface and construction |
| Change the colour | Physical reference or colour standard | Material availability, matching and quantity by colour |
| Change the dimensions | Finished dimensions and actual contents | Pattern, opening, proportions and usable internal space |
| Add a pocket or divider | Intended contents and layout | Access, seam positions, assembly and cleaning needs |
| Change the zipper or puller | Reference and functional requirements | Availability, fit, finish and attachment |
| Add retail packaging | Packaging format and artwork | Packed size, protection, assembly and shipping volume |
If you want to keep the structure, say so explicitly: “Keep the shape and opening; change the exterior colour and add our logo.” If a change is essential for product fit, identify it before the first sample.
Confirm fit with the products that will actually be packed
The outside measurements of a bag do not describe all of its usable space. Seams, lining, padding, corners and zipper access affect what can go inside.
Provide the dimensions and quantity of each item, including its final carton or sleeve if it will be packed that way. Where practical, use actual products for the fit check. A bottle that fits diagonally into an empty bag may be awkward to load as part of a complete set.
Review the bag both open and closed. Confirm that staff can pack it without forcing the contents through the opening and that the closed bag presents the set as intended.
State quantity by design and colour
Changrong's published starting MOQ is 300 pieces per design. The practical starting quantity for a particular specification still needs confirmation, especially where custom materials, colours, hardware or packaging are involved.
Give the total order quantity and your proposed colour split. For example, “1,000 pieces in one colour” is a different production brief from “1,000 pieces across five colours.” Do not assume that the total quantity makes every smaller colour allocation workable.
Also identify whether the first order is a single launch, a seasonal campaign or the start of a repeat programme. This helps establish which materials and components should be considered for future availability.
Approve a sample of the agreed specification
A catalogue image establishes the reference style. The approval sample establishes the agreed product.
Check the final dimensions, actual packed fit, material, lining, zipper operation and logo placement. Review the individual packaging at the same time if it affects how the set is presented or shipped. Record any accepted differences in writing, and keep the approved sample as the production reference.
Avoid approving bulk production solely from a digital logo mockup. A mockup can show intended placement, but it cannot confirm the physical finish or the way the bag handles the contents.
Send a brief that supports a production quotation
You can copy this format into your inquiry:

If your budget has not been set, identify the features that are essential and those that can be simplified. That gives the supplier a useful basis for reviewing alternatives.
